32. Guru Namaha

Glories of a Guru

performed for Mahashivaratiri on 24 February 2017

Rupa was one Guru teaching the Beginners.  Aarthi was the other Guru and modeled for the Juniors.

Music:  bits from Shiva Talam and the group dance was for a very meaningful lyrics from a movie Sattakalloori.  Lovely music wasted in movies.  So far we have captivated four great renditions:  Bharatanatyam History from the theme music ‘Thavamai Thavamirunthu’ in 2006 show.  See Post 80. (2) Azhagae Azhagu from the movie ‘Saivam’ — we added jathi and choreographed it in Jathiswaram style.  (3) Yathumagi from the movie Seedan. (4) this one – super lyrics about Guru.

Sandhali Sindhu held the Vishnukranta Pose.  Pic in Post 45.

Comments:

Aarthi: I love the concept and the song – choreography well done, poses were good. But we must go from ‘well done’ to ‘excellent’ … as a group we all can improve.

Sandhali: my mom said it was appealing to the audience to watch. It was a fun performance with a heart catching theme. I really loved the hairpiece that you made for us.

Sindhu: Beautiful song and beautiful dance.

Nalini:  The Guru Namaha dance was mesmerizing…since I had not watched any of the practices the whole item was so creative! It was the only dance that was different in the entire show ( I can say that coz I stayed till the very end) there was another school that did a dance on matha pitha guru but the song was slow and boring… your music was so uplifting and changed the mood of the auditorium … Rachel caused goosebumps- she moved like lightning …. loved loved it!

The little girls were perfect for that role – they were after all learning from the guru….the little one in the center was too cute Rupa as a teacher was good too…she did perfect what she was assigned to do! The movements and formations made the stage come alive…  In the entire show there were 3 outstanding items:  Our Guru Namaha; another Guest item by a dance academy performing at the Kennedy center – 4 girls and one guy- very stunning and then there was this Kathak item.
