34. Muranpaadu (Controversies)
5 November 2016 – Skanda Sashti – Murugan Temple
With a dedicated group of 9 Sishyas, KNS is on the go with Creative Ideas. Here’s how it works:
Guru Ranidevi watches Tamil TV shows and some talk shows and suddenly an Idea sparks.
She then discusses her thoughts with her Mentor/Guru Latha Ramaswamy; script is written and Music is found. Research is done so no one else has done it before!
Sishyas discuss, add/alter and a NEW ITEM is born.
That is what MURANPAADU is. 4 Controversies were selected:
- Kaikeye loved Rama & Lakshamana as her own, but her maid Mandfhakani poisoned her mind and convinced her to place her own son Barathan on the throne, so she sent Rama and Lakshmana to the forest – exile for 14 years. Was the love for her son wrong?
- Surpanagai fell in love with Rama not knowing he was wedded to Sita or that he was an Ega-Pathini (one woman’s man) but Lakshaman in anger hastily cut her nose off. She went and complained to her brother Ravanan. That is how the war started. Was her love wrong?
- Delilah was asked by officials to find out where Samson’s strength lay. She found out the secret that it is in his hair. So they cut his hair and blinded him. Samson’s hair grew, he regained his strength and brought down the Pillars and killed everyone including himself. What he could not do in his lifetime, he rectified by his death. So was Delilah wrong in being patriotic? This concept was picked by Deepa Prem.
- Having dealt with several family issues in the Indian community, and in her own life experience, Rani’s view is about Parental interference in a child’s education and marriage. When they have taught you, fed you, selected your clothes, do they not have the right? They do, not not to force.
The inspiration to do this was a film music by Dhina (for the movie Seedan) Yathumagi which means Love prevails. Love and Faith has no limitations.
