77. Yesu Bharatham

KNS made an trip to India and presented concerts in 5 places:  Kalaikaveri, Chidambaram, Womens Christian College, Lutheran, Shollinganallur, etc.

Here’s a creative item that got us into trouble.

We presented this as the Mangalam after a full Christian repertoire.  SUN TV filmed the entire program with the assurance of airing it.  After a few days they came back and said objections were raised because it was considered ‘religion’.  Anything in the Hindu faith was a norm, but outside that frame was considered ‘religion’ which their infrastructure has objections to.

Scroll to the 9th item that is entitled Vande Mataram – Yesu Bharatham.  

The unique characteristic of this item is that it incorporated three kinds of styles:  Bharatanatyam, Kuchupudi, Mohiniattam.  For this purpose the dancers took special training under Guru Anuradha Nehru in Kuchupudi and Guru Shoba Subramaniam in Mohiniattam.

SunTV filmed the show at WCC and promised to air it, then they came back and said it was considered ‘religious’ and had to decline.
